Anti-Poverty Community Takeovers

Manchester Central Foodbank.
March - July 2024.

Campaign.

We're excited to continue working on the Building an Anti-Poverty Community network campaign this Spring by producing a series of Community Takeover events and a programme of creative arts workshops taking place in South Manchester.

Led by Manchester Central Foodbank, the UKRI funded campaign is aimed at building anti-poverty provisions across the Greater Manchester area. The network is comprised of hundreds of grassroots partners, working together to reduce and prevent poverty in the region.

As the creative partner, Get It Done is developing a pop-up events framework, for partners to deliver creative community takeover events, designed as a fun 'street party' style celebration. Each event will build awareness of the overall anti-poverty network and spotlight specific local services, engage people in anti-poverty provision through creative and artistic activities, and allow people to come together in their local area and build resilient communities.

The first Community Takeover day, 'Wythenshawe Against Poverty', is taking place in South Manchester on April 27th 2024. In the build-up to the event, Get It Done will be working with local community groups to create printed tapestries to be displayed at the event.
